Frequently Asked Questions

What is a birth doula?

A birth doula is a trained support person who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational care throughout pregnancy and birth.
My approach blends physiology-first birth support, evidence-based education, advocacy, nervous system grounding, mindfulness, movement, and emotional attunement to help you feel safe and supported.

How is your care different from other BIRTH birth doulas?

My birth support is both highly educational and deeply ceremonial. Families choose me because my approach blends personalized, 1:1 childbirth education with the understanding that birth is not only a physiological process — it is a profound rite of passage.

I help you prepare on every level:
emotionally, mentally and physically.
We spend intentional time unpacking fears, strengthening your inner trust, understanding your body’s physiology, and creating a birth plan rooted in clarity and confidence. Preparation is one of the most powerful tools for a positive birth experience, and I prioritize it deeply.

During pregnancy, I help you navigate the twists and turns, ailments and provider appointments. During labor, I bring a calm, grounding presence — someone who knows your story, your values, your fears, and your strengths. My support doesn’t end at birth either; I offer postpartum guidance and continuity, so you are not left navigating early motherhood alone.

How is your care different from other POSTPARTUM birth doulas?

My background includes over a decade as a newborn care specialist, lactation specialist, postpartum maternal caregiver, perinatal bodyworker, Ayurvedic postpartum practitioner. My approach to postpartum care is one of deep, maternal caregiving — a time of healing, nourishment, and being truly held. Rooted in holistic practices, bodywork, nutrition, and grounding rituals, my support offers the sisterhood, care, and restoration your body, mind, and spirit crave after birth.

Families choose me because I offer:

  • Holistic alternatives to healing

  • Bodywork

  • Thoughtful holistic meal prep

  • A deeply nurturing presence

  • Ayurvedic postpartum healing

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Lactation + newborn care expertise

  • Emotional and nervous system integration

  • A grounded, intuitive, nonjudgmental approach

What do you do during labor?

I support you by:

  • Offering comfort measures (movement, massage, counterpressure, breathwork)

  • Helping with labor positions that support progress

  • Creating a calming environment

  • Supporting your partner

  • Offering advocacy tools and informed consent guidance

  • Grounding your nervous system with presence, mindfulness, and reassurance

  • Helping you navigate decisions

  • Staying with you from active labor through the birth

My goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and connected to your own strength and intuition.

Do you support epidurals, inductions, VBAC, or cesarean births?

Yes — I support all types of birth. Your preferences shape my approach. I meet you where you are, offering guidance and grounding that fits your values, your medical needs, and your vision for birth.

When should I book my doula?

Most families in Los Angeles book between 12–30 weeks.
Postpartum caregiving often books out months in advance, so earlier is better.

What areas do you serve?

I support families throughout: Los Angeles, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Glendale, Pasadena, Altadena, Echo Park, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Santa Monica and surrounding areas.

What does postpartum support look like?

Postpartum care is where I hold the mother with deep, continuous care. My work includes:

  • Warm, healing Ayurvedic meals

  • Abhyanga oil massage & bodywork

  • Belly binding

  • Herbal sitz baths & foot baths

  • Lactation support

  • Emotional processing and birth integration

  • Family integration

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Newborn care education

  • Gentle household assistance

This is mother-centered caregiving — nourishment, tending, grounding, and restoration during the most vulnerable and tender window of early motherhood.

Do you cook meals in the home?

Yes. I prepare warm, organic, healing postpartum meals inspired by Ayurvedic nutrition, including soups, stews, porridges, broths, kitchari, herbal teas, and snacks to support digestion, milk supply, and tissue healing- all in your kitchen and served to you beautifully and thoughtfully.

Do you help with lactation?

Yes — I am a trained lactation specialist.
I support:

  • Latch + positioning

  • Milk supply concerns

  • Identifying oral tension

  • Pumping plans

  • Slow weight gain guidance

  • Breast/nipple discomfort

  • Nervous system support related to feeding

Anything I cannot support you with myself, I will refer out to a trusted IBCLC.

Do you hold the baby so I can rest?

Yes. I care for your baby lovingly and safely while you:

  • Sleep

  • Shower

  • Eat

  • Tend to your body

  • Take a moment to breathe

Your restoration is a priority.

Do you support partners?

Absolutely. Partners often feel unsure of how to help.
I guide them with:

  • Practical support techniques

  • Birth role clarity

  • Bonding + newborn care skills

My goal is to strengthen your relationship and help partners feel confident and connected.

How do I know if we’re the right fit?

The best way is to meet — to feel into the connection, the energy, the safety, and the alignment.

During a consultation, we talk about:

  • Your hopes

  • Your fears

  • Your birth preferences

  • Your pregnancy

  • Your vision for postpartum

  • The type of care you’re craving

I will always be honest about whether we’re the right match.
